| .STOP PAYING ATTENTION, the comic series (2.0) is finally on its own webcomic-format site! And there's a NEW COMIC to welcome you! So go over and check it out. WOW! A lovely place to browse my twice-monthly-ish, full-page, seriously-colored, heavily-worded comics! Note the donate button, wow, that's new! Archive navigation and a few other tweaks are coming, eventually. My delighted thanks to Alison Abreu-Garcia for her help in setting all this up for me! Wordpress is way more complicated than I thought when I tried to figure it out on my own. Thanks, also, to the other kind folks who offered to help me out with this stuff-- Anyone who can understand and manipulate the internet to their will like that is a total genius in my book. And my main site remains intact ( www.LucyKnisley.com), to continue being a crazy collection of music, comics, videos, art and miscellany. This journal shall remain also, as my blog, announcement headquarters, art and doodle dump, repository for pictures of my cat (deal with it), and artist's commentary. The digital state of Lucy is thus arranged. I hope you like it! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~( More Stuff: Parties, Art, and a Letter. ) . | |

| Last year I organized a swan boat outing on Town Lake for when Gala Darling was coming to SXSW. It was a grand time paddling about in afternoon finery, and I wasn't sure if this year I could top it ... but a few months ago I was brainstorming events and I thought a tea party, perfect! Read about the tea party here!

We're going to keep this short and sweet (Frank and birthday vgifts will be back next week). You've probably seen the updates to our main menu. Don't be alarmed. You'll find everything you need, just in slightly shifted format. Just so you know, we based these changes on input from both experienced and new users who were not familiar with LiveJournal. Our goal was to reduce barriers to usability and make LiveJournal more accessible and easy to navigate. Please note that this is a work in progress. We welcome your detailed suggestions in feedback. We thank you, in advance, for helping us improve your LiveJournal experience.
We've updated the global navigation menu:
Here's a quick breakdown of what you'll find where:
- Scrapbook can now be found under Profile (thanks for your feedback, btw), along with Settings, Stats, and Edit Profile.
- You'll find all the tools you need to post and update entries under Journal, which includes posting and editing entries, managing comments and tags, and customizing your journal's style.
- Friends contains all of your friend settings, from filtering your Friends page to adding, removing, and finding new and existing friends on LiveJournal.
- Under Communities, you'll find links to manage your communities, accept community invites, and create new communities.
- Explore includes search features, RSS feeds, Question of the Day, and FRNK radio.
- Under Shop, you'll find links to upgrade or give a paid account, buy virtual gifts, purchase LiveJournal merchandise (like T-shirts), and view your payment history.
LiveJournal Mobile update:
We've enhanced LiveJournal's mobile site to improve usability and load times. We've made more of LiveJournal's features accessible via mobile, including posting comments, uploading photos, reading and commenting on friends' posts, finding and messaging friends, and more. We look forward to reviewing your feedback and recommendations for future improvements.
Other important changes:
- You can lock comments to prevent further commenting on a post, while leaving existing comments visible.
- We replaced the "Tell a friend" link with a new "Share This" widget that lets you share LiveJournal posts on other social media sites, including Facebook, Digg, Twitter, etc.
- We changed some of the icons on entries (you can hover over the icons to view descriptions).
- You'll see a Tag count on your Tag management page.
- You'll now see the 10 most recent vgifts on your profile page. To remove vgifts, left-click on the vgift and choose whether you want to remove the vgift from your profile or delete it entirely.
- We've added options to help you control receipt of vgifts, which you'll find in My Stuff under Edit Profile. You can now enable vgifts from friends or everyone and disable anonymous vgifts.
We've got your fix:
- UPDATE: Rolling several updates into one listing here -- 1) Scrapbook should be back and working again. 2) The problem with the Update Journal page in IE6 and IE7 should be fixed now. 3) The problem with the userpic add-on package pricing has been fixed and refunds issued to anyone who was overcharged while the erroneous prices were in place.
- Non-conforming images will now be automatically resized for custom mood themes.
- Line breaks no longer count as two characters against your entry's character limit.
- We fixed a bug on the Manage Tags page so you can clear all tags and add new tags.
- We corrected the UI for the update.bml page so it displays properly in IE8.
Thanks again for joining us. Frank and company will be back next week! | |

| kinokofry.comI'm going on Comics Camp this weekend, but rest assured that upon my return, the next secret addition to the website will be revealed. -I am so excited-Speaking of things, I was lucky enough to receive in the mail recently the most amazing mini, Lumpen #7 from the talented, talented, talented Pat Grant. It's a fold-out! The Littel Dragun is a mini from the lovely Chris Downes who also gave me this original comic inspired by my hazing him on Twitter! What will appear in my magical mailbox next? | |

| I feel like I have lots to blog about but not the energy. And honestly, some of the things I want to blog about, such as a phone call I received not long after wandering out of the bathroom this morning (and well before breakfast or even coffee, mind you); I'm not sure what to make of them. Today was the first day of spring break. Not that it really feels like spring break because weighing on my mind is still the list of things I have to do. They were weighing so heavily that on Friday I went against my nature and made a list: My mother was so pleased. She's a big lists person. Practically the Patron Saint of Lists! So far, I am thisfrigginclose to erasing the first task off said list, which is great. The project itself is also turning out really neat. I just hope I'm doing it correctly. >.> I'll post the finished stuff in a separate blog on Will Craft for Tuition, probably tomorrow, so keep an eye out for that. Technically, I know I should be more worried about preparing for the Undergraduate Research Symposium because it's next week--and I am because I have this increasing feeling like everybody will be able to poke holes in any assertion I make (and this is why I've decided I'm not devoting my life to scholarly work)--but I'm really worried that I've hit some kind of block on my stories for my independent study. I will probably break out the creative mallet and C4 and start breaking the wall down, because I feel like this is a block I've hit before with longer works and I've decided it's about time I stop letting those kinds of blocks stop me from finishing. Plus, I kind of need to finish some decent drafts in order to graduate, but that's secondary to the goal of just telling a story. I have to remember there is an editing phase, though I carry a special love-hate relationship with it. My pulmonary doctor called me at home today to explain the situation with my sleeping oxygen levels. But before I get to that... ( I need to backtrack a second and mention that three and a half weeks ago... )So my doctor calls. Very patiently, he explains that my oxygen levels while I sleep just aren't low. They almost kind of cycle in their low-ness. So he thinks there's a chance I have sleep apnea. He has requested a sleep study to determine if that's so. If it is, then it's "hello, CPAP machine". Mind you, I'm really glad that I've finally landed a pulmonary doctor who isn't just apt to look at my breathing tests results, look at my medical files, and go, "Yeah, okay. You have asthma like the others guys said." From the moment I met him, he's been very thoughtful and thorough and up front with me about the situation inside my ribcage. But I've Googled the CPAP machine. Can we say High Octane Nightmare Fuel? Not helped by this description on a site: "Like the insulin injections of a diabetic, this is not a cure, but an ongoing treatment - for life!"No, no, no, no. No. NO. Fuck that shit. I am twenty-two years old, going on twenty-three. If I have to spend the rest of my life with one of those, there's a likely chance that I will pitch the kind of fit Ean Amherst would be proud of. Oh, tell me why Oh, why, Are my genetics such a bitch?I should've totally brought Repo! The Genetic Opera from campus with me to watch. It would put this faulty organs thing into funnier perspective. | |

| Hello Everyone! The posts from guys are few and far between so I figured that it's time for the semi-annual guy post. I joined this community during my freshman year of college (now I'm a senior), but have always been too shy or just never got around to doing an intro post. This isnt my intro post. Instead I want to show you all my street fashion blog: http://dirtyrichmond.tumblr.com/ and share my other favorite blogs. I started DIRTY RICHMOND because people dress so amazing where I'm from, compared to other college campuses in my state. Richmond, Virginia is a college town, filled with people that love drinking PBR and has an illegitimate reputation for being known as a "hipster" city. This city has a lot of charm. | I hadn't thought much about Livejournal since my last lame post, but then flatbear added me as a friend and I thought maybe I should actually post here. It's not like I didn't think about it in recent, um, months. I just couldn't be arsed to take the time. Well, no more of that. I'm going to post again, a couple of times a week. Lord knows I can bullshit enough to keep a blog going. I guess the biggest news is that I got a job, and the second biggest is that I'll no longer have it tomorrow. I got hired as a sales agent for a company called Imrion, which specialises in IT and online services like web design. I got a six week trial run which amounted to a total of zero sales. Can't say I know why I didn't sell anything. I know I don't like cold calling people, so that was a problem. Also, I don't know if it's an Irish thing, but most people rarely seem eager to pay for stuff like website design. Perhaps that's a symptom of the culture we live in. I don't know, I'm not a sociologist. I'm also not a salesman. Doesn't matter. I'm already applying for more jobs and focusing on writing again. My feature, a year in the writing, is finally nearing the home stretch. I have one more draft to write before I start shopping it around. kiji_kat has been really helpful in providing feedback and support, for which I am eternally grateful. If anyone else would like to see the script and offer some notes, I'd be glad to hear from you. I started a drawing class a couple of months ago. It specialises in life drawing and, while I still have a long, long way to go, it's helped me get back into sketching. I was very much into my art when I was a kid, but my love for drawing was a bit soured in school. I want to brush up on my skills because I've had this comic book idea running around my head for... well, years, I guess. I want to put together some sketches for it before I start writing a script. Then I figure I can talk to an actual artist once the breakdowns are done. It's something that's ticking along for now - my main focus needs to be on getting the feature completed. That's pretty much it. Oh, I also bought the new Ted Leo and the Pharmacists record, The Brutalist Bricks. It's oh so very awesome, but then what else would we expect from "the fuckin' Man"? - Tags:film, life, music

| Oh it's 4 AM. Horrendous sleep schedule, I know. ( A super colorful doodle )Hey! Question to my storytellin' pals: How far in advance do you plan graphic novel/comic dialogue? I feel like I just want to write up a rough story and just go from there, like make up dialogue on the spot as I go. Like, I don't even feel like getting super specific about certain scenes, I just want to dive in and see what happens. I feel like if I over-plan things, it'll get super boring fast. IDK Tell me how you guys work with stories! Also, how do you pick a story to do! I have about 4 half-conceived rough stories scribbled out that could be turned into little comics, but I can't pick one and stick with it long enough to get the script workable. Every time I come close to starting a project, I just get bored and I'm all "Naahhh, this is stupid, scratch this, I'll come up with something better." and then I never do. | |
